Kelly Troutner, Director of at AFT Nurses and Health Professionals, has reached out with concerns over what could happen to health care with the new Congress and president.  Threats to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and cut Medicaid and Medicare are considered real and could affect our members and our patients; as well as hospital, state, and municipal budgets.

Kelly has asked our help in providing stories from members about how changes could affect them, their families, and their patients. These stories need not be polished, everything helps, including just a few lines expressing concerns. They will be used to advocate for quality, affordable health care.

Could you reach out our healthcare members and ask their help?

Responses can be sent to me at Jbrady@aftct.org if you like.

Dear Friends,

My friend Linda Yannone and I  have been working with different groups to expand healthcare benefits in our state. However right now its important to make sure that the healthcare benefits, (like the ACA and its Medicaid expansion program) that advocates have fought so long and hard for are not dismantled.

We've been working with Daniela Giordano, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) CT and a coalition of other organizations including CT Citizens Action Group (CCAG) in a Medicaid Strategy group to prevent cuts to Medicaid and where possible expand healthcare coverage in CT.
